In 2018, the stainless steel industry remained stable and improved

In the context of the significant changes in the international trade environment in 2018, the national efforts to promote supply-side structural reform, and continuous efforts to strengthen environmental protection, China's stainless steel industry is developing steadily and improving its operation quality, mainly manifested in five aspects.

 

First, production is running efficiently and high quality production capacity is brought into full play.In 2018, China's crude stainless steel production is expected to reach 27.65 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.88 million tons or 7.30%.Among them, the output of cr-ni steel (300 series) was 12.5 million tons, a decrease of 220,000 tons and a decrease of 1.73%, accounting for 45.23% of crude stainless steel output (the same below) and 50% of consumption.The output of Cr steel (400 series) was 5.5 million tons, an increase of 440,000 tons, or 8.70%, accounting for 19.89%, and the consumption accounted for 20%.The output of cr-mn steel was 9.5 million tons, an increase of 1.62 million tons, or 20.56%, accounting for 34.33%, and the consumption accounted for 30%.

Second, consumption was better than expected and demand grew further.In 2018, the apparent consumption of stainless steel in China is expected to reach 22.3 million tons, with a year-on-year growth of 11.84 percent. The consumption growth is 4.5 percentage points higher than the production growth.

Third, exports continued to grow and imports increased significantly.China's stainless steel exports are expected to reach 4 million tons this year, up 1.5% year-on-year.Imports were 2 million tons, up 65.98 percent year on year.The export structure was improved, and the proportion of high-end exports increased
